The department of the army announces its participation in the government employee’s insurance company (GEICO) military service awards program for 2007. This program recognizes one enlisted member from each of the military services and one member from the guard/reserve components for their special contributions to military and/or civilian communities in any one of the following three areas: drug and alcohol abuse prevention; fire safety and fire prevention; and traffic safety and accident prevention.

An amendment to AR 670-1 Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia in the form of an ALARACT message came out yesterday. It pertains mostly to wear of the ACU and other new clothing items as well as some other do's and dont's. No news yet on when the new AR 670-1 will be published but the guidance in this ALARACT message will be included when it is.
