Award Quick "Check For Update" Fix 7 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 2
Since changing servers we came across an issue that we did not anticipate. The "Check for Update" data files in our software was pointing to the old server.

Fortunately there is an easy fix for this.

Automatic Patch

This is a patch program that will search your computer for Award Quick. If it finds it it will automatically update it to the current version.

Save the file below to your desktop and run it. (You must be logged on as an administrator!)

Here's the file:
AQPatch.exe

***************************************************

If you are not able to download and run the Automatic Patch for whatever reason you can opt to change the data file that is causing the problem. This method is a little more advanced but still achieves the same result.

For the update program to work correctly you'll just need to replace a file.

Here's the file:
AQUpdate.dat

Place the file in the following location:

The file doesn't require a password. It may be that your browser (Internet Explorer) is interpreting a .dat file as a .zip file.
  1. When the dialog box pops up to open or save choose save.

  2. When the "Save As" dialog box pops up make sure the destination is someplace on your computer you can find it when you are done downloading then change the Save As Type on the bottom to All Files and edit the File name to AQUpdate.dat then click Save.
This should solve the problem with IE. We haven't seen this problem with FireFox which some of us here consider vastly superior to IE.

Why does the update file need a password to open in Winzip?

If you downloaded the update file as a zip file then you did not follow the instructions.

WinZip is a paid for third party program with a free trial. We are not associated with WinZip nor do we recommend using that program as the file compression tool in Windows does the exact same thing. If it is asking you for a password it is most likely because you downloaded the free trial for the program and it has expired and now they want you to purchase it. Your best bet is to uninstall WinZip altogether.
