Counseling Soldier about Hygiene or lack of 7 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Just wanted to know if there is anyone out there who has counseled a soldier about their hygiene? I've been in this unit for about 3 months now and I've been pulled aside by other section leaders about soldier's hygiene and how it is affecting others around SM.

Recommend you read the post "Asleep on Guard duty. Here is a brief snapshot of the post:
Counseling May read:I am personally/professionally concerned about your level of personal hygiene. Personal hygiene is important for your safety and those around you. While I understand this may be a sensitive subject, it is also a matter of unit concern as it has the potential to affect other members of the unit. You need to improve your level of personal hygiene. Finish with the magic counseling statement. I recommend speaking with your chain of command regarding this issue. Ensure your plan of action includes items for the Soldier to perform.

When discussing hygiene you need to be sensitive that this is also a personal issue. Do not attack or degrade the Soldier. Consider explaining the impact that their behavior has on the rest of the team. How it could hurt others (as they could get sick, etc). Find out what the Soldier has to say about this issue. If the issue seems to be larger than you expected speak with members of chain of command.
Hope this helps.

Awesome... Thank you so much. I was really thinking about not degrading the soldier being that it is a sensitive subject. Appreciate the assistance.

Jonathan,
We do have a lost ID card counseling statement in Counsel Quick Volume 3. You can find the exact contents on gipubs.com at: http://www.gipubs.com/Counsel-Quick-Volume-3-p/mtr-cqv3.htm. I can provide you a 10% discount off the purchase price. The code is: Q421Q1Y.

While I would like to give you that counseling for free it is difficult to do because so many individuals ask for free stuff. We spend alot of time researching and developing the counseling statement, the plan of action, and the assessment block. I hope you can understand our situation.

I can provide you some items to think about as your write this counseling should you choose not to purchase Counsel Quick Volume 3.

Regulation that covers the issue: AR 600-8-14
Subject loss of ID card or CAC Card
Understand that the lost of such card can provide sensitive information to our enemies and afford individuals the rights and privelegs to benefit they should not be entitled to receive. The ID Card is a controlled and inspectable item. Failure to maintain this item or allowing it to fall into the hands of unauthorized personnel could endanger lives and national security. Failure to correct such behavior could result in punished under the UCMJ. Indicate that this is a serious offense and will no longer be tolerated. End with the magic counseling statement.
Plan of action should including reporting loss of the card to the MP station. Take a copy of the MP report to the Personnel office, a copy of the MP report is usually required by the personnel section. Obtain an new id card for the soldier, and Consider having the individual that lost the ID Card give a class on the subject or write and essay on why it is important to maintain control of his ID card.
Hope this helps
