NCOER Support Form 3 Months ago Karma: 1
Having trouble understanding the support for and need someguidance, This is the first time I am having to use it. I know I can use the standard DA 4856 in support of the NCO Support for an initial counseling. Question is when filling out the support form in the TASK/ACTION block, that is what I am using the bullets for right? And after the first Quarterly counseling, I would have to go and fill in the PERFORMANCE STANDARD right? After the qaurterly counseling do I need to make a different support form for the rest of the quarters and if not what do i do the rest of the quarterlies on? Sorry if this sounds dumb , just dont want to screw over my NCO like I have been screwed over, any guidance would help

In the TASK/ACTIONS section you want to summarize the main points from the 4856 in bullet format. To be specific, what you want to put here is what will constitute an excellence rating on the NCOER.

Right. The PERFORMANCE STANDARD is essentially how well the soldier performed in each area. This would be the bullets that are transferred to the NCOER.

No. You would do it on the same form but it is highly recommended to "Save As" before editing so you can save a copy of the first one with a different name i.e. 1stQtr.xfdl, 2ndQtr.xfdl, etc. This way you have a copy of the original unchanged document and subsequent documents can be edited appropriately.

If you haven't already done so you may also want to consider the Rater Quick-NCOER Edition.
