Need some guidance counselings for APFT failures in a combat zone

    • SFC Ross, This might be a better discussion on our sister site ASKTOP.net but the short of it is this. Some units are testing Soldiers in combat or deployed locations and altering the APFT test. For example it may be too hostile to conduct the 2 mile run so units are implementing policies like: Taking the score from the Push up event and Situp event and then taking that average and using it for the 2 mile run time. Nothing in Army regulation or policy allows this deviation. It is not an authorized test. Therefore Soldiers cannot be flagged or otherwise adversely impacted by such a standard. Furthermore an APFT score is good for 1 year for the purposes of the evaluation report. If a Soldier cannot take the APFT because of a deployed condition and it is longer than 12 months the rater should simply enter APFT could not be administered due to combat or deployed conditions did not support the requirements. This is no fault of the Soldier or similar statements. I hope you found this response useful.
